I am trying to install a DNN 2.0.3 portal (i know its old but its going to be used to upgrade) and it will load the portal site but the site is unusable. If you try to do anything (ex. login) it just says "Critical error".

The really weird part about it all is that it is not even running the script when the portal loads - no tables are created in the sql database, nothing... and so i assume this is the problem, but i dont know how to make it run the install script, i thought that was the automatic default the first time you visit the  http://localhost/DotNetNuke

If anyone has any idea what to do please let me know, thanks.

For the sake of anyone who might be experiencing any problems with DNN 2 similar to this one, i found that A)The script doesnt run like it does in the DNN 3, so that was ok and  B) The problem was it has a default setting in the web.config to use its own database and i had to change not only the connection string (like normal) but in fact TWO connections strings, and change a setting above the second string to the SQL option instead of whatever it is currently set on.
