in the last step of installation after adding admin username and password, i got this error in last step
and when i opened the site it was working but the admin menu just show only on link "Taxonomy"
any ideas?

It's probably happening during the portal creation phase. Are you using some sort of special template to create portal or just default template coming with base install. Is your SQL Server located on a remote box. Is your server low in resources. I believe you are using 'Typical Installation' mode. To overcome this problem (generally it doesn't happen) it's best to either bump the executionTimeOut in httpruntime section in web.config or using Auto Install.

For auto-install you'd need to supply connection string in web.config.

I think your best option is to redo installation (drop the database and start fresh if that's an option). Looking into the Installation section of this blog on how to set this value and then remove it after installation.

the problem solved when i choose "blank website" not the "default website"
you have to check why this problem happening because i saw others reporting the same problem

I had this same problem. My database is on another server so that may explain why it took some extra time to complete the install. I just went to my web.config and made the suggested change:

After making that change, I just refreshed the page that had the error on it and was able to get it installed.

This is a helpful post, except "executionTimeOut" does not work, but "executionTimeout" does work. ASP.NET runtime is case-sensitive in this respect.
