I want to install DNN on local machine using VS2010. I don';t want to place the DNN files in wwwroot folder. I want to open the DNN project in Visual Studio and want to test it locally by installing it in .\SQLEXPRESS instance.

Which version should I download ? I am looking here: http://dotnetnuke.codeplex.com/releases/view/70103

Show I download "6.0.0 - New Install" or "6.0.0 - Source Code (New Install + Source Code)" ?

and how to install (steps from starting) ?

Any help would be appreciated. I am new with DNN

Unless you plan do go digging around in the core source code - you would be best of just using the standard Install.zip package.
If you do go down the source code route - you will need to manually compile the site in release mode before you can begin working with it.
Compiling in debug mode does not move the dll packages into the correct places automatically this is only done in a release compile.

Alternatively the webmatrix installer version does a full install and gets you setup ready to work with a running site.
