I've tried 2 times to install DNN 6.00.00.  Once with custom settings, then as Typical.

Both times, it gets through the install with no errors, but when it tries to launch the page, I get this error:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.GetSkin(PageBase page)

I've seen this on the forums, but can't really find a solution.

Any ideas??

This must be something related to the IIS on Windows XP (I know, I know... my company is REALLY behind the times). I installed on our DEV server and it worked.

The installation on XP ran the script and did not go through the normal list of items it was installing. It just started the script, then went straight to done.

The installation on Windows 2008 actually showed the logging as the items were installed.

DNN 6 requires .Net 3.5 SP1 being installed, did you ensure this premises?

 Yes, I have .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.

Did you ever figure it out? Running into the same thing using 6.2.3, local site on Win 7/ IIS 7.5. Just stops working out of the blue.

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.GetSkin(PageBase page) at DotNetNuke.Framework.DefaultPage.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint)

Tried just about everything, and it's happen several times with several different installs on this machine. Yes, has 3.5 etc..
