Hi I'm new to this and wondering if there is a guide for installing DNN on hostgator or does anyone have any advice?

there is an installation guide available, which should apply to most hosting providders. Be aware, you need Microsoft Windows hosting and Microsoft SQL Server (Express).

theres no hostgator specific advice but as long as its an asp.net hosting provider then the wiki advice is valid - http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/Install_DotNetNuke.aspx

note: some hosting providers will supply a control panel that will allow you to set permissions/deploy applications (such a dotnetnuke), so it's always a good idea to check with your host if they provide one - a quick google suggests they do - http://support.hostgator.com/articles/how-to-log-into-cpanel (http://support.hostgator.com/categories/cpanel has a full list of supported actions). However I dont see any mention of asp.net, they appear to be a linux/php hosted shop so please check to see if they support asp.net

FYI it seems they do support dotnetnuke http://support.hostgator.com/articles/hosting-guide/hardware-software/compatible-technologies on their windows hosted plan and you use plesk to setup the site.
