Everything seemed to be going so well!!!

I had abandoned my original attempt at installing DNN - cos i was getting to many errorrs etc.. so i started afteash and everything went well up to the point where i tried to access my web page...

this is on  local host and for some reason during intall its in the address bar as http://localhost:1881/DotNetNuke1

Any ideas greatfully recieved cos this programme is driving me nuts... it shouldnt be this dificult to get it up and running...

I'm running into tthe same exact problem.  The one thing I noticed is that in the sql database under the users table there is no portal admin, only the superuser exists.  I modified my install template to allow me to change my default username and password (having host as the default is a poor idea imo, the install routine should ask you what you want to use, but I guess that is why they added install templates :)

  • so i've reinstalled 4 times now.
  • To reinstall i delete the directory,
  • delete the database,
  • add the database,
  • extract the files from the install zip file,
  • add the connection lines to the web.config
  • set debugging to false
  • change some of the password requirements (set them to 5 long 1 non alpha)
  • Next I modify the install template to use my username, password, smtp server, Site Name,
  • Then I modify the portal user name and password.
  • Then I recycle the IIS process that this application runs under (I created a separate application pool)
  • then i launch the isntall process.
  • It goes through without errors
  • then when it gets to the Install Complete I click and get your error.
