Does anyone know if there is some documentation for setting up a default instance of DNN using the latest downloadable source code version? I'm getting build errors etc..

Here's a DotNetNuke Wiki entry that I wrote some time ago:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W...

The basic steps should be the same for DNN 6.1.2. The two most common reasons for getting build errors are 1) forgetting to rename development.config (or release.config) to web.config, 2) not making the change in the solution file to point the application url to the application that you have setup in IIS, and 3) including the build of the website itself in the VS build configuration manager. DotNetNuke does not currently support pre-compilation of the website itself - only the various library, provider, and module sources.

There have also been several reported errors in the early 6.0.x versions when using the VS 2008 rahter than VS 2010 solution file.
