hi all

i am in the first step of setting DNN up , an error appears

"The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid." 

 

any help??

you have't given the full details (i.e. the hresult) so I can only point you at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942055 for the list of possibilities-but at a guess you've edited the web.config and made it invalid (e.g. when adding connection strings you've left in comment tags)

 all i did that i wrote my database connection string and improving comments lines.

But another thing is that i upload DNN source and began to set it up in a child directory in my host , not in the root, is it wrong???

the site needs to be an application not just a folder (right click the folder and select "convert to application") - also if the root website has a web.config then that will be inherited by the child application - depending on the contents you may have to invalidate the root settings via inheritinchildapplications - http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Forums/forumid/200/threadid/439329/scope/posts.aspx
