Hi John, just to maybe further clarify things for you, when you create new sites via Site Management these are being created within the same DNN installation. If you go to wwwroot/Portals, you will see a 0 folder which contains the files for your original site (eg 10yes-solutions.com) and sequentially numbered folders for each new site you create (eg 1 might be cardonprintwithdg.com). Think of wwwroot (containing all the DNN install files and updates) as being a shared resource for all the sites.

I understand I think about going under site management and creating the new site.  I have looked under my original site (10yes-solutions.com) and under portals I see a site 0 and 1).  Under the 1 site which is cardonprintwithdg.com as you stated under portals I see a 1 only.  Should that be there?  I am getting the distinct feeling that I should not have run an install on the second site.  Am I hosed?

I guess the part I don't understand is after I create the new site under site management of the main site, what files do I need to upload to the new site for it all to work?  Is there any installing involved or does it just start working?  I read in an earlier post that when you do want to install a DNN upgrade you only upgrade your main site so I am obviously missing a step/concept that I can't find spelled out in the manual.  What files do the subsequent sites need in their www root and how do they get there?  When someone browses cardonprintwithdg.com there needs to be some files in that sites directory for it to work don't there?  I am just trying to wrap my head around this.  When someone browses site 1 they must hit the database and then get told what files it needs and that they are under portal 1 /images etc but how does the browser know to get to that database?  Am I making any sense?

John, if you want to add another website to your DNN installation, no file upload is needed. Just make sure, the domain alias points to the web server and your IIS web site is bound to it. When you now create the new website inside Host > Site Management, you should be able to call it directly from here or get transferred to the new site. If you would like to apply a different Skin/container, of course you need to upload it as for any other DNN site.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold
