System:
Windows Server 2003 SP 1
IIS 6
ASP.NET 2.0
Microsoft SQL 2000

I've followed all the steps... using the install.zip package.  Set up the dbase as well as the Virtual Directory.

When I browse to the install.aspx file I get file not found....

What am I doing wrong????

If you've set everything right, calling the public http://localhost/virtualdirectory should start the install process. What's the exatc error you are getting?

Do you know the truth when you hear it?

if you have followed all the steps - make sure of the following:

in IIS, make sure default.aspx is the only document in the site document settings.  If you do not have a DNS entry for the server, type the site's IP in the browser after the http://, and nothing more (no page name). It should then default to "default.aspx" and begin the install process.

You can only use "localhost" if you are actually on that machine - make sure you're not browsing from another machine/desktop/laptop and trying to hit "localhost".  I have never browsed to Install.aspx - so I must have missed that one if the manual states it, but you do not need to browse there - only default.aspx.

If you get a config error from there - make sure you've set permissions on the folders for the NETWORK SERVICE account (full admin)  - unless your App Pool has another identity set (in IIS6 NETWORK SERVICE is default).

go into IIS on the server, browse to the site, right click on default.aspx and choose browse (the page).

What do you get?
