Hi All,

I have been busting my head yesterday all day to install DotNetNuke community edition (also tried community) on SQL SERVER 2008 R2 standard edition through the wizard but I was getting lots of Database errors.

Eventually I decided to install it using SQL EXPRESS option through the wizard and then copy the databases somewhere else and then attach them to SQL SERVER 2008 R2 standard edition using SSMS.

I updated my webconfig connection strings and CHACHING!! It works and "Hello DotNetNuke World!!"

But the question that stands is "if I attached the mdf file to the SQL SERVER 2008 R2 standard edition .. does it mean that the mdf file has been upgraded from express edition?"

there are no format differences between Express user instance mdf files and SQL Server attached mdf files. If you want to install using SQL Server in attached mode, you'll have to create a blank database yourself and grand dbowner permission to the sql server user, your web site is using.

Thanks for the info. I already granted it dbowner and everything was successful ;)

You can say its a workaround to those who have trouble installing it through the wizard.

And I believe that to migrate it from IIS 7 express to IIS 7.5 u have to configure the AppPools as well :)
