As a GoDaddy customer, I initially took advantage to the free installation of the DotNetNuke (DNN) "value application". After experiancing upload (.mp3) problems, and the lack of help from GoDaddy, I decided to do a manual install. This would allow me to actually have access to the web.config file for necessary, "specific" modifications. (<customErrors mode="Off" />, etc.)

I have successfully installed a bare-bones version of DNN. I attempted to install the "Source Version".  In doing so, I have encountered a "missing modules" error.  I re-ftp'd all the Source files however, I can't seem to get rid of the missing modules problem. Here are my questions, not in any particular order.

  • How can I un-install DNN, so that a re-install will prompt the DNN installation routine?
  • How can I address the missing modules problem? Where do the module reside?

Thank you for any help!

Tony

I've never used GoDaddy so I don't know what options are available to you, but the required steps to do a full and clean new dnn installation would be:
- remove and recreate the database
- remove and reinstall the files
- configure the web.config to connect to the correct database

To install the modules you can put all the zips in the \install\modules folder and then invoke the installer:

Thank you very much for this valuable information.  I will try this as soon as possible.
