I am a newbie when it comes til DNN, and I am trying to set it up at my site (running at an external ISP). I have copied all the folders/filers to my website (using FTP-access), and using the webinterface providede by my ISP (surftown.dk) I have created an empty database. According to one of my friends who have been running DNN for some time at his website (also hosted by the same ISP), he didn't need to change anything in the configuration files to have it running. The first time he acccessed his site, he was presented wtih the DNN-pages leeding him through the configuration of DNN - however it is some years ago, he installed it, so perhaps he forgot some steps he did !?

Anyway, whenever I try to access my site in the browser, the browser will open a dialog-window asking me to enter a username/password. I have tryed using the credentials I have with my ISP-accessing their adimistrative-pages/FTP, and various default DNN usernam/passwords, however I cant get through. I have conected my ISP asking if they need to change some configuration for my site (it should be able to run ASP.NET/MS-SQL, and my friend run also wtih them the same way). My ISP tells me that the severet is configured correctly, so it must be something in my DNN configuration (web.config) that I need to setup !?

Any ideas/sugestions ?

Pelle

most like there is a permission issue, you need to enable anonymous read access for all files and full access for ASP.Net, however, this should be provided by your hosting partner. Besides, before unzipping and uploading files, make sure to unblock the downloaded zip (right click - properties, if at the bottom of the first tab there is a message and a button "unblock", hit it.
