Do I need VisualBasic Express installed on my machine to install DotNetNuke?  The install instructions say to "press Ctrl-F5" in order to install.  I am not sure what program or which file I need to start the process.

Colpac,

What do you plan to do with this install?  Do you plan to host this website on your own server?  Do you just want to install it on your local computer to learn how to use it?  Do you plan to use a hosting company to host your DNN website?

DNN needs a few things to run:
  • IIS Webserver software (included in Windows Server 2000/2003 and Win2k/XP Pro)
  • Microsoft SQL Server database such as SQL Express 2005, or the full SQL Server 2000/2005
  • For DNN 4.x, you need to have the DotNet 2.0 framework installed
  • You can use the "install" zip file on the download page if you dont want to use the "starter kit"
Remember, that DotNetNuke consists of files in a folder that connect to a database.

good luck,
