I always use the INSTALL version of dotnetnuke, (DO NOT USE the upgrade version)

  1. BACKUP application and database!!!!
  2. change the connection string and machinekey in the web.config file of the new version, by copy and past from the older version

  3. copy all the uncompressed files of the new version to the web portal's folder  (overwrite all previous files)
  4. use /install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade, do not use the wizard or any other method.
  5. I used it many times without fail, you may have some module or skin incompatibly from the older version, that has to be resolved manually, once you upgrade and get the site running.

I'm having this problem upgrading to 6.02.06. The server responds with a 'connection reset' error almost immediately. I never see the upgrade page. There are no entries in the EventLog table and the database is unchanged.

What is the solution?

Thanks!
