Hello,

I am trying to install dnn 4.3 using a hosting company that is providing me with an asp.net framework 2.0 and sql server 2005.  I am installing in a directory that I've entitled DNN.  I've created a frontpage subweb for this directory and made it an application.

I downloaded the source and install distributions and copied over everything in the install zip file to my dnn directory.  I modified the web.config file to point to my sql 2005 database and modified the logon and password as well.  I did this under both the connectionStrings and appSettings section per the installation instructions provided by the hosting company (discountasp.net).

Here is the error that I am receiving:

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

The type initializer for 'DotNetNuke.Data.DataProvider' threw an exception.

I have been searching for information on this error but can't seem to come up with anything.  I've triple checked the server path, username and password along with sql permissions but am still getting the same error.  I am using visual studio 2005 express edition and I did a recompile successfully with this tool, but still no luck.

Supposedly my hosting company does not provide support for dnn, yet they advertise that they offer it!  Can anybody please point me in the right direction?

Thank you,

David

One solution might be to check the web.config file and the database connections. I think by default the db connection is to SQL Server Express. The connection to normal (non-express) SQL Server is commented out by default.
