I have just tried to install DNN 4.3 and have a problem. I had a 4.0.2 install, I deleted the database and removed all the files but left the site directory and all its permissions. I expanded the DNN zip file , copies release.config to web, config , update all the settings for a SQL server (Not Express) database and set the CustomErrors setting to Off so i would see any problems Uploaded the directories to my site , naivated to the root url. The install seemed to go fine, created tables installed modules etc and said click here to go to portal , when I do this i just get an empty page with ! image and the horrible "An Error Occured" message twice. Obviously this doesnt help me much the url is showing as below http://www.mysite.com/Default.aspx?tabid=36&error=Root+element+is+missing.&content=0 whicj suggests there is a config error somewhere but I'm not sure where t now look. Any Ideas please Thanks

This is not really the way you should upgrade. Did you read the 4.0.3 installation doc? It is the same for 4.3.
