I installed DNN 6.2.2 today and thought I would both share my first impressions and ask a few questions.

I used the Web platform installer that's built into the IIS Manager. Hat's off to Microsoft for this handy little tool.

My first few attemots at installation were utter failures. I have a web farm. Even though I have DNN setup to route through to a single server, the web farms default timeout of 30 seconds was too great for DNN 6.2.2 installation process on a quad core with 16gm of RAM.

Each time I got to the step in the install wizard where I created the host login and chose a template it would crap out on me. Pressing F5 didnt help because the user already existed. Giving a new host user name didnt help either because it then got foreign key constraints.

Once I figured out that I neeeded to increase the web farm proxy timeout I was able to get past this.

I then arrive at a screen, pre-logged in as Super User (host) that has a broken image where apparently a profile avatar should be (just between the username and the word logout.

Ignoring this, I moved on to purchase a skin and get it installed.

I go to Snowcovered.com and buy a skin. I then go to Host-->Extensions and link up my account. At this point I discover that the skin I bought includes three zip files and that only one of them shows up in the list within DotNetnuke. It seems I cannot install my skin from here,

Moving on, I scroll to the bottom of the page (again, I am at Host-->Extensions) and look for the link to Install an extension, but IT ISN'T THERE! I looked under Admin-->Extensions also but no luck.

On another site that I upgraded to DNN6, there is indeed a link titled Install Extension Wizard but it simply doesnt apear in DNN 6.2.2 after finishing the installation.

How the heck do I even get a simpe skin installed?

OK. I see that in this installation I have to click the Manage button even though I am obviously already managing given that I am in the host menu.

I don't really have any explanation for why the upgraded site has the option at the bottom of the page and this fresh install does not.

Previouos default skin used to have premier actions being listed at the bottom of each modules. This feature has been eliminated in DNN 6 dfault skin "Darknight".
