Hi,

after lot of troubles I get the installation wizard running, huh.

Step 3 wants to setup the database connection, but fails. I took the SQL Manager tool and found my server healthy and running and I can also login with Integrated security or with my sa account, so I am sure, that my memory about passwords isn't corrupted.

But still can't connect.

Here the 'message':

DotNetNuke

Datenbankverbindung konfigurieren

Any idea?

Thanks for helping.

With best regards

Don't use the sa account. Create a specific user for your database and supply those credentials.

Hi Mark,

ok, does your answer imply that I has to create a database by hand before starting the installation wizard of dnn??

With best regards

Gerhard

Yes.

1. Create a new database called Dotnetnuke (or whatever you like)
2. Create a new user and grant it ownership of the new database. Write down the ID and password.
3. Start the install DNN install process and when you get to the database screen, supply the server name, database name and user ID and password

This is when your database objects are created.

Thank you! After banging my head against the desk for several days this is exactly what I needed to get my first install past the "connect to database" screen and I am now up and running. Thank You!
