Hi,

My question is not as 'advanced' as all the other questions on this forum and it may be an easy fix however for the life of me i can't seem to fix it.

I am trying to download the community edition of DNN. I have tried to download this about a million times. However once it is downloaded, it restarts my computer and then once it is back on, nothing happens and i can't seem to find any files anywhere. I am even trying to download it right now and the top downloading bar is all green and says 'finished downloading' and the bottom bar is just completely blank. It does not give me any option to click finish or  anything.

I have tried downloading DNN on both my laptops now and both laptops do the exact same thing. They are both running windows 7.

Is there something i am doing wrong or is there a file hidding somewhere?

Any help would be muchly appricated.

Thanks.

Monica

I'd scan your PC for a virus. A DNN download should never restart your PC.

Also, try installing it via Microsoft web platform installer. It's a neat tool from MS that will auto-install a lot of different open source applications on your PC with just a few clicks. Install it, launch it and you'll see all the apps that it offers.

Give that a shot and let us know how it goes.

Hi Monica,

The download certainly shouldn't be restarting your laptops. Are you downloading from the offical repository on CodePlex? http://dotnetnuke.codeplex.com/

You should be downloading a zip file called DotNetNuke_Community_06.02.02_Install.zip, so try searching for that on your local drive. By default it is probably saving to the Downloads folder, I have my browser set so that I have to tell it where to save the file.

One little tip once you find it and before extracting it, right click the zip file and select Properties, then click the Unblock button.
