I was under the impression this bug was going to be fixed in the last release. It's still present and still makes the site almost unusable with constant "object not set..." errors in the news article, forum and gallery modules to name just some. See below for examples of code (sorry I don't know enough yet to fix it, just enough to know what's causing it). The problem is that it's checking the cache for info, then by the time it gets to to second getcache it's cleared and errors out.

(Sorry if the code below is from the wrong module to explain it clearly, it's just meant as an example of where it's coded up poorly)

This is where the code has been written thus:
Get

If Not DataCache.GetCache("ScheduleLastPolled") Is Nothing Then

Return Convert.ToDateTime(DataCache.GetCache("ScheduleLastPolled"))

Else

Return Date.MinValue

End If

End Get

Set(ByVal Value As Date)

Dim ns As Date

Dim s As Scheduling.ScheduleItem

s = Instance.GetNextScheduledTask(Common.Globals.ServerName)

If Not s Is Nothing Then

Dim NextStart As Date = s.NextStart

If NextStart >= Now Then

ns = NextStart

Else

ns = Now.AddMinutes(1)

End If

Else

ns = Now.AddMinutes(1)

End If

DataCache.SetCache("ScheduleLastPolled", Value, ns)

End Set
Instead of thus:
Dim objFile As FileInfo

Dim strCacheKey As String = "GetFileById" & FileId.ToString

objFile = CType(DataCache.GetCache(strCacheKey), FileInfo)

If objFile Is Nothing Then

objFile = CType(CBO.FillObject(DataProvider.Instance().GetFileById(FileId, PortalId), GetType(FileInfo)), FileInfo)

If Not objFile Is Nothing Then

' cache data

Dim intCacheTimeout As Integer = 20 * Convert.ToInt32(Common.Globals.PerformanceSetting)

DataCache.SetCache(strCacheKey, objFile, TimeSpan.FromMinutes(intCacheTimeout))

End If

End If

Return objFile
