I'm having trouble getting DotNetNuke 7 to run on a Windows Server 2012 machine with IIS 8.0.  This is a new machine.

The error is:

HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error

The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid.

Detailed Error Information:

This appears to be an IIS configuration problem.  The specific complaint is about the <handlers> section in web.config.

Module    IIS Web Core
Notification    BeginRequest
Handler    Not yet determined
Error Code    0x80070021
Config Error    This configuration section cannot be used at this path. This happens when the section is locked at a parent level. Locking is either by default (overrideModeDefault="Deny"), or set explicitly by a location tag with overrideMode="Deny" or the legacy allowOverride="false".

I've verified that IIS is working, and I can browse to http://localhost on this machine.

Help??

I went back and enabled a bunch of IIS features and things are working now. Unfortunately, I have no idea which features was needed!

Same problem here. Under the IIS role, I enabled Application Development and every subcategory under it. If I had to guess, it was either one of the .Net Extensibilities or one of the ASP.NETs that did the trick.

please make sure, you have Asp.Net support enabled for the server. You may also need Forms Authentication and Anonymous access.

Went to control panna add/remove programs "Turn windows features on or off" and checked all IIS features.
Works now.
