I have a development system I have been using for over a year that creeps in n increasing number of 500 Internal Server Errors over time. If I restore to the a prior backup and restore all my code, it works for months before the errors creep up again. It can not find css files and js files (but only some of them and only some of the time)..

I tried upgrading to 6.2 and then all of the js failed and I could not do anything (even DNN main functions) that required Javascript, so I went back to my old 6.0.2.

Today, the 6.0.2 will no longer work, so I started with a fresh install of 7.0.3 (with one exception), I started with an empty database that I defined in advance so I could use my SQL Server to manipulate the data. Again, the 503 errors occurred. I learned to use Firebug to get into the errors, and with some searching found that I had .Net 4.5 Beta installed and it was known to cause issues. I uninstalled 4.5 Beta, and per the message (on this forum), I installed 4.5 (real). The 503's were gone. Now 24 hours later they are back. This time, no amount of searching can fix it. I am looking for your help.

500 Internal Server Error: (Per Firebug log on SOME cs and js gets - not all)
Could not load file or assembly 'DotNetNuke.HttpModules' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Environment:
- Fresh install DNN 7.0.3 but in my SQL Server 2008 Database (Empty to Start)
- FireFox 19.0 & Firebug 1.11.1 (Same issue is IE)
- Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate (Running as Virtual Machine)
- Microsoft .Net Framework 4 Multi Targeting Pack Installed
- Microsoft .Net Framework 4.5 installed
- Visual Studio 2010 Installed
- Web Config set for 4.0.0.0 (per default 7.0.3)
- No additions to base 7.0.3 Webconfig
- IIs 7.5
- App pool with name ASP.Net 4.0 declared. Connected to the local host website, and as far as I can tell is granted full access.
- I have copied the dotnetnuke.httpmodules from 7.0.3 install just to be sure it is good.
- I have cleared cookies & forced refresh with no change in results.
- As per above, I have tried different versions of DNN with no change in results, so I think it is something in the environment (or security) outside of DNN?

I am losing my mind on this one. If anyone can help shed more light on this issue or help me solve it, I would appreciate it. Meanwhile, I can not develop and code or fix any production issues. I am dead in the water.

More Info: The files not loading are located in my desktop modules folder. I have a sub directory for the project and the module directories. It is the module.css and the script files that are no longer loading.

/DesktopModules/MyProject/Module001/module.css
/DesktopModules/MyProject/Module001/Scripts/jsMyScript.js

All my modules were installed into this fresh dnn 7.0.3 by using HOST account into host -> extensions -> create new module

This method takes the existing dnn file and tells DotNetNuke that the already existing files should be used to define the module. These dnn files do NOT list the css or JS files. I changed them to include them in the components-files section, but it still has not resolved the issue. I still think it is either security, or DNN not recognizing the files even exist.

Thoughts?

Hi there mutual sufferer.

I was wondering if you were able to figure out what was causing the 500 internal server error. I had it running fine but the ISAPI filters and some other stuff was misconfigured with ISS the suggestion was to re install the OS. so I did. Now I don't get any errors (unable to configure ISAPI filters) but when i go to start the website I get the 500 internal server error.

If you did can share some?

Thanks

Franc
