Hi,

I'm trying to install new DNN7 and the wizard throws this error when trying to connect database, after I type credentials.

"ERROR: DotNetNuke requires SQL 2008 (express or full product) to work"

I also tried using URL http://mysite.com/install/install.aspx?mode=install and manually configured web.config to install and it went well untill the end, where I got a user defined error, that didn't have time to copy. My hosting provider is ix webhosting and I've never had problems with them before and I verified credentials. Everything looks ok.

Please help.

Hi,

there are certain requirements on DNN 7, and one is SQL Server 2008. It is possible that you have installed SQL Server 2008 (or higher), but it can happen that the database itself is still in an older mode (because you upgraded to SQL Server 2008 from an earlier version and did not upgrade the database).

Best wishes
Michael

Thanks a lot for your reply. I just got answer from their end also and they explained that shared service uses sql server 2005.

Can you recommend an inexpensive hosting provider that might support 2008 in shared environment? I've always used these guys and once 3essentials, but it's expensive for the purposes of this project's budget in particular.

Regards,

Give dnn4less.com a look. I've heard of them a few times on these boards.
