Hi,

I just noticed today that I'm also getting a very similar error after upgrading to the latest (DNN 07.01.01) on my production site.

A critical error has occurred. Attempt by method 'DynamicClass.lambda_method(System.Runtime.CompilerServices.Closure)' to access type 'System.ComponentModel.Composition.Hosting.ComposablePartCatalogCollection' failed.

In the Log Viewer, I'm seeing it state "Reflection Permission Required", as it is adding the module to the content pane (when trying to view the Host Settings page). More specifically, I have this Inner Exception:

InnerException: Attempt by method 'DynamicClass.lambda_method(System.Runtime.CompilerServices.Closure)' to access type 'System.ComponentModel.Composition.Hosting.ComposablePartCatalogCollection' failed.

Taking a workaround from this Reddnet blog posting, you could temporarily increase the trust level to "High". I haven't tried it yet myself (need to head into office to do this), and of course I would prefer Medium level trust. Still, it might help point you (or others) in the direction of the bug.

I have this going on with my company's beta site as we prep for a new site roll-out in January. I am seeing "A critical error has occurred. Attempt by method 'DynamicClass.lambda_method(System.Runtime.CompilerServices.Closure)' to access type 'System.ComponentModel.Composition.Hosting.ComposablePartCatalogCollection' failed." errors on the Site Settings page, File Manager page, and more. I tried the following:

1. I did not "unblock" the zip file from DNN so I did that and re-copied files back over my install from the "unblocked" zip.

2. I changed the trust to High.

Neither of these worked. Luckily, I am a pro customer so I am contacting Tech Support. Will post back what we find.

Jared

Hi everyone,

My issue resolved after I installed .NET Framework 4.5, without any changes to web.config nor the permissions.

Thanks for helping out and hope this would help others who encounter the same problems.

I was getting the same error after upgrading to 7.1.1. The fix for me also was to uncomment and change the trust level in your web.config file

to: trust level="Full" >

Well, that is an issue with the IIS Configuration, that could be different to each instances.  E.G Windows Idenity Framework (WIF) can make this issue.  Uninstall leaves the registrations on the IIS configuration.  I didn't have found the place yet where this reistrtions placed on IIS.  So I haven't a other Suggestion as to Change the Trust level.
