I know there is a sticky on this exact subject, but the link in that post was killed by the move to dnnsoftware.com, the email address mentioned is of a company which I believe doesn't exists any more, so the sticky is useless and because the topic is locked, I can't reply there.
I'm using DNN 7.0.5, I want to have a local copy of my live server, for testing purposes. So I copied the database, copied the www-dir, and it works, except that I can't login. When I overwrite the passeword with a text and set the type to plain text, I can login.
Is there something which locks the encryption/hashing of the password field to a specific server?
In this topic I got the reply that "Most people manually copy their entire directory to the new server, back-up their database and restore it on the new database server." Is this something which worked in the past, but does not anymore? Or am I doing something wrong?
Ive read about a fix using some store procedure called something like dn_fixusers, but that seems to be very old (<2007)
