In addition to the other suggestions, note that DNN 7.x requires ASP.Net v 4.0 or 4.5. It appears that the site's application pool is targeting v 2.0/3.5.

Good catch -- I have 4.0 and 4.5 installed, why would it be using 2?  How can I fix that?

Thank you for your help thus far... I have followed your directions, and now the error has changed yet it remains the same...  now the website comes up, and when I click on Login this is what I get:
