I went through all the steps on the WIKI for this. DNS enabled using stage. website and aliased url under arvixe to get website loaded- I got all the way up to this error:

Error Installing DotNetNuke

Current Assembly Version: 6.2.5

ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

I changed to name Database as upgradelodge593 with user code (SAME AS LIVE SITE AND PW) under both connection Strings in Web config.  Still having same issue -

What did I miss?  What do I need to look at to correct to fire off upgrade (to 7.2.1)?

you might have forgotten to give this user the appropriate rights to this new database?

I am the admin and I believe all the permissions are in place.

Still not sure why it won't link.  How would I re- restore the database?  Or would I just be better off to create a new database  name and try again?

I recommend you to test your connect string in a external application (it is easy to write a simple application which connect to database) first, make sure they are correct, then apply them to your DNN sites.

make sure the sql server account specified in both(!) connection strings in your web.config files does have databaseowner permission for the cloned database
