Hello, I have seen various threads regarding the inability to login after upgrading to DNN version 4.3.x. The username and password listed on the home page states that they are admin/admin. Several posts have indicated to use dnnadmin for both username and password. I have also seen admin/dnnadmin (username/password). After trying all of these combinations, I am not able to login as an administrator successfully. This is very frustrating. Any help or clarification would be very much appreciated. Thank you, Tony

If you're upgrading, the logins should be the same as before the upgrade.  Of course, it's critical that you copy the machine key info from the old web.config into the new one.  But the published dnnadmin / dnnhost info you're talking about it just for new installations.

I had the problem on a new installation and did the following [you will need at least Enterprise Manager access to complete];

- Register a new user
- log into the Database via EM
- open the 'Users' table
- set 'IsSuperUser' to 1 for this new user, close table
- log into DNN site using this new Superuser
- navigate to Superusers Accounts under host menu
- find and open 'Host' account
- reset password for  the 'Host' via the 'Manager Password' link (use a temp pw)
- log in to the site using 'Host' and the temp password - you will be asked to reset the password
- set it to your desired password
- do basically the same for 'Admin'

THANK YOU!!!

The validationKey, decryptionKey attributes of the machineKey node had different values than the original in the web.config.  You were correct!  Yes, the "upgrade" username/password of admin/admin is the correct combination.

Best regards,

Tony Ventura
