Hi,

From last one month I am in search for DNN works with MySQL but from various forums, blogs from google I came to know that DNN does not support MySQL.

But I have got only one link from codeplex site for MySQL Client providers for DNN.

https://dnnmysql.codeplex.com/

which says DNN allows to work on MySQL.

I have tried this but that will not work for me.

What is your opinion on this URL.

I want reply from Scott & MVP's of DNN.

Please reply

it's an old project that didnt get much tracation, i wouldnt recommend using it (also no modules will have a MySQL implementation). Note: DNN's default sql implementation works with all editions of sql server, including the free sql express editions.

You may use your MySQL connection string for your custom modules, but for DNN I strongly suggest staying with MS SQL, since you would need a custom database provider for each module. Free SQL Express is fine for most small and medium sites, even with dozens of websites in a single installation and dozens of databases on a single SQL server.

I have seen people trying to use MySQL with Windows hosting thinking hosting with MS SQL Server databases is expensive. There are lots of $5-$10/month Windows hosting which includes SQL Server databases in the fee.
