did you go to Internet Information Services>World Wide Web Services>Application Development Services ? ASP.NET 4.6 should be there.  I ran into the same situation trying to a DNN install on my work computer.  I had to re-install 4.6 and then it showed up so i could select it.

My Environment: Windows 10 home 64 bit, IIS 10, SQL Server 2008 Express R2
I was getting Configuration Error
I have my domain directory on C:\websites\Trademam.me which was NOT working

Per Ken's suggestion I did
A: on DOS prompt as Administrator, ran --> dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:IIS-ASPNET45 hit enter
B ran IISRESET in the DOS prompt, hit enter

1. created a directory under c:\inetpub\wwwroot\TMNV9 (no dot in the name)
2. Copied the DNN files to this directory
3. When i opened the IIS manager (inetmanager) it had already created a new site automatically.
4. When I right clicked on the domain name there was the "onvert to Application" option. I did not have this option when my Domain location was outside WWWROOT
So I clicked on " Convert to Application". Note that Before this conversion many of the option on the action panel was not showing.
5.I added Virtual directory (same name) pointing to the same to the directory as domain name.
6. There was no Apppool created, So I created manually.
7. Created the Database, When creating the user for this installation on SQL make sure select newly created database name (Master is selected by default)
this worked for me.
