Hi,

I'm trying to install DNN Platform 8 on a Windows 10 machine with VS 2015. I initially put in what I thought was the sa password (I normally use Windows authentication) but it came back as invalid at start of install. So I went into SQL Server Manager and changed the sa password to what I thought it was and tried reinstalling. When it gets done downloading and starts the install process it comes back and says the sa password is invalid or failed to connect. I re-enter the password to what I'd changed it to but it still comes back as invalid or failed to connect.

I've tried deleting the cache file and reinstalling but get the same results.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Doug Drake

make sure you create the blank database first and grant dbowner permission to the user you are incorporating in your connection string.

Thanks for the reply. I've created a database called "DNN" but my problem is that there is no place in the install process for me to enter a connection string. I hate to be dense, but when I attempt to install, the first thing that happens is it asks me for the sa password, which I enter. It then asks me to accept the terms, then it downloads the program then starts the install process. As soon as it starts it pops up a message saying the sa password is incorrect or the connection to .\SQLExpress failed. I tried putting a connection string in the remote server name field in the options but that didn't work. I'm stumpted.

it might be an issue of the install process. you may consider using nvquicksite to install dnn (http://nvquicksite.com)

Thanks so much for your reply - it has definitely helped me make some progress. The problem now is that when I go to the website (click on the button at the end of the install process) I get:

HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error
The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid

Error Code: 0x80070021

I've tried to troubleshoot this myself but am getting nowhere - any help would be greatly appreciated!
