Dear DNN Pros --

Please help, regarding setup for a newbie, with respect to database support.

Question 1:

Can one setup the DNN Platform to run locally, on a single machine, with SQL Server Express, for development purposes, as development-only environment?

Question 2:

Can one setup the DNN Platform to run locally on a single machine without ANY type of database server on it, for development purposes, as development-only environment, for example when a corporate policy disallows local instances of SQL Server or any other database server but one still wants to use DNN?

Please advise.

1. Yes

2 Yes - but DNN cannot run without a database so the DNN instance will have to have access to a database somehow. If it's not on the local machine it will have to be on the network.

You mentioned that the mysterious corporate policy might be in play here. DNN's normal operation, and especially installation, requires significant access rights in the database. Some toy database that allows a little read and write will not cut it.
