I am trying to test a DNN site on Azure WebApp. The database connection seems to work fine (from the SQL menu in WebApp, it can connect fine). However, DNN redirects to InstallWizard. I have updated the portal alias to include the Azure url.

Here's the debug log... which doesn't really help me figure what is wrong:

Generally, redirecting to Install indicates a problem with the database connection.

Check the connection string in web.config and make sure that agrees with what you know to be the values that work.

It does, and when I go into Mobile/Data connections and enter one to test, it works fine (I tried invalid creentials and it errored out).

Why isn't there any logs of the SQL error, if there was one? I put hte logs to Debug and the only thing I see is what I posted.

Here is what happens if I update the webconfig with an error in the DB connection:

2018-01-22 15:58:41,862 [RD0003FF18E7EE][Thread:14][ERROR] DotNetNuke.Common.Initialize - The connection to the database has failed, however, the application is already completely installed, a 500 error page will be shown to visitors

I guess it means somewhere else there is Something wrong. I re-checked the Alias table and my entry for the azure URL is there... not sure what else I have to check.

Turns out my database connection was working but the DB got imported wrongly.
Had to import via bacpac file when uploading to Azure.
