I'm attempting to install DNN 9 inside my Windows Server 2016 virtual machine running on Azure.  I've setup an empty database, created the website in IIS, gave full control to IIS AppPool\DNN to the folder containing the unzipped contents of DNN 9.1.1, ensured that I unblocked the .zip before unzipping to c:\websites\dnndev.me, and created a dbuser SQL account with permission to the DNN database.

When I browse to localhost:81 which is where I setup IIS to host DNN, the installer begins.  However, an error is thrown as follows:

RROR occured - Installing Connector - DNNCE_AzureConnector_09.02.00_Install.zip

How do I remedy this error?

the azure connector is a new extension, which might be failing on Azure itself. You may remove the component from /install/module or install/provider folder prior to running install procedure. Please log the error into the public issue tracker at http://support.dnnsoftware.com
