BJ -

Thanks for the post. On 8/11 I was just in the process of throwing in my hat with 1and1 and I signed up with webhost4life (advert on this site). I saw your post this morning and decided to try 1and1 again with the DNN I was setting up. Unfortunately I still receiving the same results. Could I ping you more on this?

Here's the error:

 Server Error in '/' Application.

The resource cannot be found.

Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.  Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

Requested URL: /DotNetNuke/install/install.aspx

I have a subdirectory setup with a domain pointed at it. Then in that directory I have created the folder called DotNetNuke. I have configured the web.config to the same details above with one exception, I changed the object qualifer (objectQualifier="dnn_") to DNN, but I dont' think that would adversely affect the setup.

Any suggestions?

I have done all this and was absolutely thrilled to pieces when it worked and installed.

Untill i tried to use it, it will go through about 2 ar 3 pages then anouther security message comes up and you have to go back to the begining.  I am giving up hope but i really want it.  Does it need some time to configure itself?  If i came back to it tommorow would it be better?

Has anyone got this to work with 1 and 1.  I just need to know that it is possiable.  If it isnt i will give up.

Dear Justin,

1and1 suggest NOT to use a subdirectory with a domian pointed directly. You can put the application in the subdirectory but the domain should point to the root. Use a script to redirect from root to the subdirectory. This script can be found in the faq of 1and1.

Anyway 1and1 has problems with DNN 4.x, which is confirmed by 1and1 to me. They are working to solve it, but cannot give a date when this will be. See other posts in this forum.

Sam-

What steps did you do to get it past the 404 error? Could you describe how you setup the folder structure and what else you might have done to install?

Thanks,

Justin

I ran into the same problem as sam81. But if you keep clicking the link it will work. I looked at the dnn log and they all are security and permission errors. I have not had time the past couple of days to work on it. I will post the errors later today.
