Hello to all,

I was debugging the code because the installation of the source package 4.3.3 failed.

I saw, that the following line returns nothing in the Function UpdateMachineKey() in the Config.vb file:

Dim xmlMachineKey As XmlNode = xmlConfig.SelectSingleNode("configuration/system.web/machineKey")

So the next line, which accesses xmlMachineKey runs into an error, so the installation is broken.

Anyone who can tell me, why the command returns nothing?

The path is correct, the values exists in the web.config file.

So why the node could not be retrieved?

Thank you very much in advance.

Greetings, Wolfgang

Okay, I got it.

The problem was, that (so I guess) VS 2005 added automatically a namespace to the web.config file.

I removed that and all worked fine.

Here we see, that using error trapping is a good idea.

I would save much time, not only mine.

Greetings, Wolfgang
