I have attempted an upgrade to 4.3 on my test machine in anticipation of upgrading our production environment.

My upgrade was/is from V3.2 to V4.3.  I did the requisite mods on web.config.  I changed the web site to be based upon .Net 2.0.   When the upgrade is triggered by calling the site, I hang with the following error message:

Server Error in '/DNN' Application.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I also have this error, except I was doing an upgrade from 4.0.2 to 4.3.  Can anyone help out?

Cheers,
Greg

I fixed this by restoring my original 4.0.2 directory, then recopying the upgrade.. it worked the next time.

Good luck everyone

well I'm back to this problem shown above.. upgrading from dnn4.0.2 to dnn4.3.4  .. are there any clear instructions, or perhaps a professional I can pay to do the upgrade?  I'm following the directions but no luck.

I fixed the issue, just be aware that by default SQL2005 is commented out in your web.config...

Good luck,
Greg
