I am installing DNN in the supprted webfarm environment.  I have installed it on my local machine so I get the basic process of installation.  I've read the Web Farm support document thoroughly, but I'm missing something in the translation.

So far I have

  1. created the UNC on the FileServer
  2. Set up a website in IIS 6 on  the two web servers and pointed the default directory to the fileserver UNC
  3. extraced the install package in the UNC directory
  4. created a dnn database and set user & roles on my database server
  5. Started editing the web.config....  This is where I got stuck

The web farm supprt document indicates the web.config on each web server... uhmm I have the web.config in the site root which is the UNC... so the web.config for each web server is the same file...

Do I need to move the web.config to the actual web servers?  If so, where do I put them?

Your help is greatly appreciated,
Larry Downes

I have the same question. I know there is a web.config file in the C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG directory howerver there is a configurations section but no appsettings section. Also of note the webfarm documentation states that you should update the MachineValidationKey and the MachineDecryptionKey, these keys are now called machineKey validationKey and decryptionKey. Please update and clarify the documentation.
Thanks,
