I had a problem uploading DNN 3.3.4 (for a new install) and solved it (after a day of frustration)
There's a small chance anyone will have the same problem but just in case...

I had strange problem uploading the files in "Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Ftb3HtmlEditorProvider\ftb3\images"

Something went wrong, the FTP programma hung on the upload of the images. If I uploaded all files one by one, the programme continued to work but the the files were corrupt.
Dnn worked but some images were missing....
After hours of testing I found out there is a bug in filezilla 2.24b which sometimes corrupts image files.

Upgrade to Filezilla 2.26a solved everything
