I get this error when installing dotnetnuke at the server

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

Could not find stored procedure 'viamedi_viamedia.GetPortalAliasByPortalID'.

It appears maybe you are trying to install from a dotnetnuke installation that has previously failed or has already been installed. Using this installation with a new database will give you this error because it can't find the stored procedure it's looking for and thinks should already be in the database. About the only thing you can do is start all over with a new dotnetnuke installation and new database.

This happened to me too and starting over fixed it. I had originally tried to install DNN/SQL using Windows Authentication only, and my first few installs failed. After turning on SQL Server Authentication and setting up my user properly, I got the error in the first post.

I wiped my DNN folder, extracted a fresh set of files from the install ZIP, reconfigured my web.config, and now I'm up and running.

Thanks, mikekist.
