Hi,

I have installed and created a web site using DNN 4.0.3 with SQL server express and IIS, and it works fine on the computer that I created the site. But when I am trying to open this web site from my network computer, it will reach the 404 error.

I have created a simple test html page on //localhost, and I can view this page without any problem from my network computer, so I guess the problem only occurs on DNN's web site.

Is this has anything to do with the "user instance" in SQL Server Express?

I don't know much about IIS, database and SQL server, so I really don't have idea what might be the problem, and how to fix the problem.

Can anyone please comfirm that using SQL Server Express with "user instance" enabled can or can't let the user open the web site from a network computer?

Thanks a lot!

you need to add the name of your computer to the portal alias list in DotNetNuke: log in as host, go to portals item in host menu, select your portal and add the external address of you portal to the list at the bottom, e.g. "PC_ting_wei/DotNetNuke".
