Someone can help me please?

I’m trying to install DotNetNuke 4.0.2 with oracle 9i. One machine is the database server (windows 2000) and the other is the web server (windows 2000 with IIS 5.0 and DNN Oracle Data Provider 4.00.2).

I had this log during the installation:

luigi.matticari  - did you have the modules.zip files in your modules sub folder (from when you unzipped DNN).
This is a known issue when you unzip DNN and leave the existing zip files in the folder. I need to update the documentation to reflect the following.

Setup the DNN Oracle DataProvider

  • Delete all files located in the [Drive]:\[Path]\DotNetNuke\Install\Modules folder.
  • Run the setup file making sure that you specify the correct folder where DotNetNuke is installed. I.e. [Drive]:\[Path]\[DotNetNuke]
  • After installing the provider successfully go to the Installation Directory and locate the OracleWeb.config file which will be copied over during the installation. Rename your existing web.config file to web.old and then rename OracleWeb.config to web.config.
  • Using Notepad, open the newly renamed web.config and make any changes to the SiteOracle Key under App Settings and Connection Settings.  A sample is provided below.

App Settings

<add key="SiteOracle" value="User Id=DNNUSER;Password=DNNUSER;Data Source=DNN3"/>

Providers

<add name="OracleDataProvider" type="DotNetNuke.Data.OracleDataProvider, DotNetNuke.OracleDataProvider" connectionStringName="SiteOracle" upgradeConnectionString="" providerPath="~\Providers\DataProviders\OracleDataProvider\" objectQualifier="DNN_" databaseOwner="" UseEncryption="false" />

  • If you are upgrading from a previous version, make sure you copy your MachineValidationKey and MachineDecryptionKeys.
  • Open up your web browser and load the website by entering the URL for the site.

I would recommend the following

a) Uninstall your oracle data provider and blow away the database schema that you created before and re-create.

b) Blow away the folder you unzipped DNN into.

c) Unzip the contents of 4.0.2 into a new folder.

d) Remove the zip files in your modules folder.

e) Install the oracle data provider.

Shoot me an email to dnnsupport@webacuity.com if you have any questions.

Thanks

Sanjay

Thank you Sanjay, it works fine, I’was going crazy with this problem.

We tried to use the email address dnnsupport@webacuity.com but  it didn’t work yestarday.

We would like to know if it is possible to have the upgrade 4.0.3 and when you are planning to release the 4.3.3 version.

We would like also to ask you if had experience about using DNN with a webservices dataprovider.

Our next project needs to run on an architecture that has a firewall between the webserver and the DB server so we have to find a solution to use Oracle via webservices instead of normal DB connection. Do you have any advice to share with us?

thanks in advance
