Hi there;
First of all sorry if it was an old question. I searched for it but can't manage to find in forum. I unzipped the installation files to the remote server, set the user accounts for the full right, edited the relase.config file and renamed it as web.config, created the database and the user to reach it, but I still can not install DNN. I get this error when I try to reach the URL.  If any one knows about this problem, I would be grateful for the answer. Thanks.

Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Basically what it's saying is that you need to change the 'customerrors mode="RemoteOnly"' to 'customerrors mode="Off"' in your web.config in order to get a useable error message. At this point the error could be almost anything. Also the error messages show up in some of the log files if you're able to review those.

The database carries a number of logfiles however I think you haven't gotten far enough for the installation to build it. My webhost carries logfiles which can provide some information. I think by far the easiest way to find out what's going on is to change the web.config file and let the installation tell you what's wrong.
