Hi folks,

I tried to install a new fresh DNN 4.3.4 on my godaddy account in a virtual directory ( not the root ).  I got a fresh new DB and started the installation which by itself ran fine according to the install page as I received the "click here to access your portal" link ...

After clicking on it I started staring at a blank screen and I just kept on staring ... I gave it half an hour but still nothing there .. it was still "loading" the default.aspx file ... No error ... no message ... nothing ...

I had a look at the DB and all the tables, stored procedures, etc were there ... Had a look at the eventlog table but only 2 entries in there with not much interesting stuff ...

The default 0 portal was created judging on the filesystem and the table contents ...

So I am a bit stuck now ... how can I find out what is not working ???

Regards,

Steven

( I allready edited the web config file before the installation to turn of custom errors ).

I'm having the same exact problem!

I looked and found that no alias had been created, but I was also using an IP followed by the path to the virtual directory.

If you browse to your site in firefox, you'll probably get an error that says page is not redirecting properly - I am anyway.

Here's what I've done that hasn't worked.

Here's my basic file structure on GoDaddy:

Root is the main folder of the hosting account, Picturedpages is a virtual directory that I created through the GoDaddy Admin with read, web, and set root permissions.

Root/Picturedpages/Website
Root/Picturedpages/Library

I added aliases for every possible combo for browsing to my site
I Moved all of the files out of website and into Root - no dice
I moved them into picturedpages - still no dice

I'm still looking, but I'm afraid that it's because the Physical path of the Virtual Directory in IIS has to be to the Website folder. This kind of configuration doesn't seem to be something that GoDaddy is very willing to do.

Hi there,

I used firefox and indeed a popup is shown indicating it exceeded the number of allowed redirects ...

I have a slighly different setup with just 1 virtual directory in which the site is installed.

I also defined a subdomain with is linked directly with that folder and added it as an alias to the portal ( via the database manager ) but that didn't solve anything either ...

BUT

Try the following - force the usage of a certain portal - so

www.yoururl.com/yourvirtualdirectory/default.aspx?PortalID=0

This works fine for me and the portal loads ... I can login etc ... Once you click the logoff link it goes back into redirecting looping ...

I am a bit lost though on the reason why this is happening and whether it is a new bug with this release ???

Steven
