I am trying to install version 3.3.5 on :
Windows XP (local)
IIS 5
SQL Server 2000 (running on remote server)
.Net Framework 1.1

I consistantly get the following error.

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

The stored procedure 'dbo.GetPortalAliasByPortalID' doesn't exist.

I am tearing my hair out! - have tried every suggestion for this error to no avail. Most suggestions talk about having an incorrect connection string but that my connection string is correct and this does not seem to make sense as the installer is able to create 1 table and a stored procedure before it fails so it must be connecting ok. I am dropping the database between changes to the connection string. I am using the sa username and password and have set the permissions on the directory to full access to everyone.

Help please!

A lot of times something like this will come up after a failed installation. When you start over - make sure you use a new set of DNN installation files as well as a new database. To help prevent a lengthy install and a possible timeout failure, you can use the DNN upgrade version and add the modules in later as you need them.

what also helps is recycling the app pool before you have another go at reinstalling dnn. Remember that dnn caches a lot, including sql connections. Sometimes, after you cleared the db, dnn might still thing that it is already installed, while in fact it isnt...
