We are wanting to install on a server 2003 box.  I first tested 4.3.5 on a winXP box.  I got it to install and work fine, but not the way anyone else has really said to install it.  I just installed it the only way it would install.  anyhow.  We set up a test server to make sure we could install it right the first time.  I think I finally got it installed but again, not the way anyone else has said to install it.

We're using Windows Server 2003 enterprise, SQL server 2005 express, and DNN 4.3.5.

Basically what I did was extract DNN to a folder in the Inetpub dir, gave it permissions, setup IIS in a virtual dir and gave it permissions too.  I'm also using the default version of the release.config file for my web.config.  I also added an ASPNET user to the iisreg file through cmd prompt (not sure if this helped).

I guess my questions are these;
    does this sound right?
    will this work when we move to the production server?
    do I need to set it up as it's owe website or leave it as a virual dir?
    will I be able to call the website using the address www.myschool.com instead of the ipnumber? (right now the alias is "IP                 number/virtual dir name".  if I try calling it something else, it won't work.)
