Fresh install of this program and I am running into issues connecting to a brand new SQL 2000 DB
Seems I keep getting the Could not connect to Database error.

I have followed the directions (the best I could) I have tried to find a Quick Setup of some sort.
Why would you not just create a wizard to setup everything? Like the Community Server or Mambo?
Instead of editing a file. I have edited the Web.config in the 2 locations for my SQL settings...

What else could be wrong?

Hi,

Looks to me as those your commented code is in the wrong places... it should look like this (where red is highlighted, commented out, and not used code, and blue is the code you are using for your connection strings) :

 <connectionStrings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express
    <add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
    -->

    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 -->
    <add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Server=www01;Database=DotNetNuke;uid=nukem;pwd=******;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

  </connectionStrings>
  <appSettings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"/>
    -->

    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules -->
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=www01;Database=DotNetNuke;uid=nukem;pwd=******;"/>

Just remember that comments start with  <!--  and finish with  -->
Hope that helps.

Cheers.
