I successfully installed DNN 4.3.5.

However, when I run Default.aspx, I get the following error:

Server Error in '/DotNetNuke' Application.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Having the same problem myself - new install - seems to build the database and install the modules fine then ..... then this error.

Mmmm ...

Add me to the pile.  I installed over a 4.0.3, and it all seemed to be running fine until it "configuring portal My Website".  Then I got this error.  Subsequent refreshes, which I hoped would push it a little further along have always gotten me to the same point as these gentlemen.  I was trying this on my laptop before upgrading my commercial site.  Lucky I did that!

If there is any assistance I can give either through log dumping or anything else, please let me know.

Take me off the pile.  It turned out I had not commented out the SQL Express SiteServerSQL key.  So - part of it saw one, and part of it the first one.  Seems odd, but that is what fixed it for me.

At least partially.  Even after I got it up and running - only 5 of the modules were there.  I even started over with the starter kit and took all defaults.  I first got a thread executing error at the same point - then I just get the error above.
