I was looking to (quickly) develop a website (more like a portal with content, forums, blogs, chat etc) but did not know where to begin. Which module of DNN should I download. I don't want to program anything as I am not much of a techie! Is DNN for people like me? Do I need to get a programming book now? (I had liked Latek's portalapp but have not been successful installing it either)

Anyways, any advise on what module of DNN I should download and install - install kit, starter kit or something else? Also, are directions for installing available too?

Thanks!

My advice would be to get a web hosting account that supports DNN (there are many and most will install it for you at no add. charge). Just do a google search ("dotnetnuke hosting") -- you will find prices from $6 to $100/month, depending on hosting features. Also, the hosters will provide a temporary domain name (if you do not have one).  If you don't want to get your own web account, DNN recently added a "demo" feature: http://demo.dotnetnuke.com; this will let you create demo account...

And yes, do get a book. Most of the DNN books are programming related, but they typically include several "how to administrer DNN" chapters... And of course keep searching this website for info...
